The things young kids say…

January 29, 2017 at 2:37 am | Posted in Maya, Uncategorized | Leave a comment

When Brianna was little I tracked many of her silly thoughts and now I’d like to start a log for Maya.  Actually my Aunt reminded me:).  Better late than never?

1/27/17: Maya just said, “I wish I was God!” Why Maya? “He’s really important and everyone loves him. ” Haha. 😂😂😂

She calls a fort a fork.  Love this

Brianna is BeeAnna   I actually like that❤️

Aug. 2017

Potatoes are tomatoes.

Are you sure you want to spend all your money on this?  “yes, I can just get more out of my Piggy Bank.”

Me. “Maya, next weekend I’m going to visit some friends…” Maya, “cool, I want to go with you!!!!!!!!!” Brianna, “it’s just the mom’s and no kids.” Maya, “so if I just dress in grown up clothes it would be ok! But… they probably would know?!”

Brianna runs and screams when flies get inside. Maya finds it to be a good career path. 😂

Maya = 4 1/2

“mom, there is a bug in my eye. You know the spider things that move when you blink your eyes? ”  Your eye lashes?  “oh yes!”

“mom, do you think God will let us go visit him? I want to ask him why moms get hair under their arms!”

More to come….

Halloween Pumpkin Fairy and Rock Pets

October 14, 2013 at 1:01 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Being that we love Halloween we decided we needed to create a project to get us in the SPOOKY Spirit!  We created a “Flower Fairy” but we decorated her in pumpkin style… she even has a stem on her head (maybe Brianna’s fav part:)

After she was created we noticed she was lonely and would need a few pets.  What makes a better friend than rock pets?  Off we went looking for the perfect rocks… we found 4 perfect rocks, and painted them and added some eyes.  They are truly the cutest little pets.

Then we ran into the problem of them scaring people… so we decided they needed a rock pet house!  We heard about Altoid boxes making great houses, so we decided that is what they needed.  We decorated their house with black and orange felt, a crystal ball, and some white curtains… they seem to really enjoy it:-)  The top of the box works great for the pumpkin fairy’s table or bed:-)  To make sure they don’t escape at night it seems best for Pumpkin to sleep on the top at night, since Rock Pets can get very crazy when there is a full moon!Image

Happy Halloween!

Have you ever struggled with the right words to say?

February 6, 2010 at 1:29 pm | Posted in Uncategorized, Winter 2010 | Leave a comment

I always have a lot to say and just can’t figure out how to get the right words on the paper.  During the development of our Jack and the Beanstalk Adventure Kit, that launches in March 2010, I found I was struggling for the right way to describe the project.  When I ran into this problem, I was fortunate enough to have some great friends from my agency days to help me out!

Steve Fadie is always the first person I think of when I get tongue-tied!   It is easy to think of him as his book is called just that, “Words to the Rescue: The sentiment guide for the tongue tied. 1000 thoughtful things to write on the card when you don’t have a clue.”

I can still remember when Steve started writing this book… I was fortunate enough to have a few test reads before he published it!  Steve is a joy to work with and if you ever feel tongue-tied… check out his book!  His book was featured on the  Doc. Laura’s Radio Show!

Steve has another book in the works and will soon have a FaceBook FanPage. . . more to come!

Watch our Jack and the Beanstalk Adventure Kit Progress on our FaceBook Page.

Thanks Steve for all your support!

Winter Mess: Organize Those Gloves, Mittens, Hats and Scarfs!

December 30, 2009 at 12:25 am | Posted in Uncategorized, Winter 2009 | 2 Comments

I just love being home on vacation! All the messes I always wished to clean are starting to get cleaned up! We had so many gloves, hats and scarfs by the door that I was getting a lil’ annoyed:-)

We went and looked at some baskets today but after Christmas I did not feel like spending any money. We had an old box and decided with a little decorating it would work perfect!

We created a montage with some fabric scraps, felt and colored paper. The glue sticks worked really well but we ran out — opps; -)

Then we used Elmer’s Glue and it was not as easy…

After Brianna goes to bed I think I’ll add a little hot glue on the edges!

It works PERFECT for us!

We have sooo much more to clean up and organize but my vacation is running out:-(

Getting Ready For 2010… Noise Maker Craft!

December 29, 2009 at 3:00 am | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Brianna  loves the holiday events this year!  Right now she is trying to figure out this “New Year’s Eve Thing.”  And really what is MidNight — LOL!   I decided to start a few projects to get her excited about the big night.  Today we worked on a few Paper Plate Noise Makers!

1) All you need to do is have the kiddos decorate a few Paper Plates…

2) Use any color of streamers and have your lil’ one cut them into as many pieces as they like.

3) Use a glue stick on the inside edge of the plate.

4) Place the streamers on the glue.

5) Add Rice or dry beans… We used a 1/2 cup of rice…

6) Have an adult hot glue both sides together…
